The Canadian Labour Economics Forum (CLEF) is, once again, running its competition for the best paper written by a Canadian student or recent graduate. The aim of the competition is to recognize and support excellence in early career research and to connect with young labour economists.
Current students or recent graduates (within past two years) from a Canadian university, as well as Canadian students and recent graduates from foreign universities, are eligible to participate. Submissions must be unpublished. Papers may be written in English or French. Sole-authored papers and papers co-authored with another student or recent graduate (not a supervisor or senior economist) are eligible.
Papers will be reviewed by CLEF’s Scientific Committee. The Committee will select one paper as the winner and two runner-up papers. The winner and runner-ups will receive prizes of $750 and $500, respectively. Winners will be expected to present their work at the First Annual CLEF Conference on April 25 and 26 in Toronto.
Papers should be submitted through the submission portal on the conference website at: https://stonecentre.economics.ubc.ca/clef2025/. Please tick the appropriate box indicating you wish to be considered for the prize. The submission deadline is January 15, 2024.
Notification of winners will be made by the end of February 2025.
